The Library is the official California State Document Depository and houses the largest collection of California state documents in the United States. The Library's collection contains publications and reports that record the State's political history, natural history, socioeconomic condition, and culture. The program provides a centralized location for the deposit of publications, establishes liaisons with state agencies and institutions of higher education, claims publications identified as missing, and processes incoming materials for addition to the Texas Documents collection and for distribution to depository libraries. The publications listed in CSP are distributed free of charge, either by the Office of State Publishing or by the issuing agency, to California state document depository libraries. Other organizations and individuals should contact the issuing agency to obtain copies. All titles on the following lists are included in the Main Catalog. The goal of the Alaska State Publications Program is to make state publications freely available to Alaskans by distributing them to local depository libraries. This program is mandated by Alaska Statute , the State Library Distribution and Data Access Center.
